I spend a lot of time walking and exploring ignored and overlooked places. I make work based on my experiences of certain places, walks and train journeys. I pay attention to the long forgotten man made landscapes and things that people have left behind. I am interested in the wildlife that humans have introduced to areas, sometimes by mistake and the way we have altered the landscape.
My work is a visual narrative of certain experiences, sometimes of obvious subjects and sometimes of places that I can visit easily via East Croydon Station. Sketches and photographs get taken home and the final work is completed in my kitchen or living room.
I’ve done quite a bit of commercial artwork over the years, most of it unconnected and irrelevant to my personal work.
